In the 1920s, Suzanne Lenglen did the unthinkable: she stripped away the petticoats. Known as 'La Divine,' Lenglen worked with designer Jean Patou to create a uniform that allowed for actual movement. She replaced floor-length constraints with pleated silk skirts, sleeveless cardigans, and her signature bandeau headscarf.
